Light Rail

The kids and I rode the Light Rail yesterday. I wanted to see how it would be to do something using the light rail so I went to pay Lyle's dues for the union. We caught the bus right by our house. I had $6.25 for us to ride, but was informed that I would need exact change for each rider (1.25 for the three older kids and 2.50 for me), so we walked down to the nearest gas station and got change. We then caught the next bus. We didn't need to wait long for the light rail as they are running about every 10 minutes. We were able to find a seat right away. When we were done paying Lyle's dues we caught the bus and then the light rail again. This time it was pack full of people. (standing room only). So we got off and waiting until the next one. This rail was pack also, but we got on to ride it out. These are pictures of my kids impromptu seats. We have decided to try riding it again in about 1 month after the newness is no longer there and people are needing to pay.

Josephine

My poor Daughter fell down the stairs the day after Christmas. Luckily she was not hurt to bad. She just sprained her ankle. She is able to walk on it, but just on the tip-toe. This put a damper on our activities for Saturday. We were going to ride the new Light-Rail that opened Saturday. It worked out good because I heard that it was packed. They are still doing free rides through the 31st so we might go tomorrow. Joey was more upset about not being able to ride the Light-Rail, and spoiling it for the rest of the family, then hurting herself (she is always looking out for others). To get her to stop crying I told her that we would go another day. It helps that the Light-Rail goes right behind the Science Center, which we are members of, so we will defiantly be using it often.

But I don't like boys

This is the look on my daughters face after she opened a Ken doll that we had bought for her for Christmas. I asked her what was wrong and she informed me that "I don't like boys". I told her that her Barbie's needed a man to date and marry. She was OK with it then. She also received a "High School Musical" Gabriela and Troy set, but she didn't say anything about receiving Troy. Apparently Troy is not Ken or a boy, he is just Troy.

Christmas Adventure

READ BELOW:

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas. The Barnes family had an eventful Christmas morning. I was in charge of the rolls for my sisters house and put the butter on the stove to melt. I then went upstairs to get Lyle's debit card so that I could get batteries for his camera (my memory card was full and his batteries were dead in his camera). When I came down the stairs I saw smoke in the kitchen and thought that my butter was burning, which I thought was wierd because I did not put the burner on that high. The burner was turned on hot enogh to burn the boxes that were on top of it because I turned on the wrong burner. I started yelling FIRE!!!! Lyle jumped out of bed and came running down. By that time I had already takin the boxes off the stove and put them into the sink and was pouring water over them. We got the fire out before the smoke alarms went off. All the other kids were already awake, but William slept right through the whole thing.

This and That

We are just going through a week of celebrations. Anna had her Christmas concert last Thursday, Austin had his band concert on Tuesday (see previous post), Lyle had his b-day on Thursday (36 years-old), both Josie and Jared had their concerts today during school, Anna had her Christmas Party yesterday in pre-school and Austin, Josie, and Jared have their parties today in school. I had a good visit with my sister Sharon today. She came with me to Josie and Jared's concert and held William while I recorded them on the camcorder.

I am very excited about Christmas Break. I hope to sleep in both weeks!!!

Austin's Concert

Austin's first band concert was tonight. He did a really good job for someone who just started the trumpet at the beginning of the year. This is a picture of him with his band teacher.

It's Raining it Pouring

It Raining! I love the rain and the cooler weather.

So my husband decided that he was tired of the carpet in the house last weekend and this is the result of that:

So we now have no carpet on the stairs and in the frontroom. The carpet is only as old as the house (which according to my husband is not that old, as the house was built the same year that he was born), but it needed to go. So I think I know where our tax return money is going.

The Weather

I am so EXCITED! It is only going to get into the high 50's almost all week, and we are going to have Rain! (She said singing). I love the cooler weather and the RAIN! To bad I will be indoors cleaning and doing laundry(it's Monday-laundry day), but I will have all the blinds open so I can watch.

Funny kid moment:

I was exercising the other day and my oldest daughter turned to me and said, "Mom, why are you exercising? I think you are fine just the way you are." (Did I mention that she is my favorite). Then not 2 minutes later my youngest daughter, who is 4 said, "Mom, you have a big belly." (Again, did I mention the oldest is my favorite?)

Sleeping through the night

The Party if over, Finally! It was fun but a lot of work. I dropped in to bed a little after 10 and when I was in the shower around 6:30 I realized that the baby didn't wake-up all night. I don't pay attention to him all day yesterday (getting everything set-up, and the actual party) and he rewards me this way. I may keep this tradition going.

The older 4 kids sang in church today. They sang a song that there piano teacher wrote with another families 3 kids. They did really good. I ended up taking them into another room after the meeting and recorded them with the camcorder so I could sent it to my Mom. (and have a copy for myself)

Now I get to spend all week digging-out. My house is a mess!

I love me husband, but....

So I was so excited to be able to sleep-in this morning, but my husband had other plans. After waking with the baby for the second time and coming to bed about 3:30, my husband decided that it was the perfect time to catch-up. He talking until about 5:00 am. I was trying really hard not to yell at him to SHUT-UP (my sleep is very important to me) so I would make small noices to let him know that I was listening but trying to sleep. He finally feel asleep and his alarm went off 1 hour later. I stayed in bed until 7:30, thinking about the ward party and everything I needed to do to get ready for it. I do love my husband but sometimes....

Sleeping in

The kids and I went to see Mrs. B. She is a lady who had made-up songs to get kids excited about reading. The kids were complaining the other day that we don't do any activites that the school had so I decided that this was free and we could go. Lyle had to work late and was unable to go, but we had fun. Even William was good (but he almost always is). I hope that he will be good tomorrow when I will be busy all day with the ward party. Oh well, at least Lyle has the day off and will be able to help as much as possible. (athought he has some stuff he needs to do in the morning with the YM). As least I don't need to be at the church until 10 am so I will be able to SLEEP-IN!!! In one more week I will be able to sleep-in for two weeks. I can't wait! Plus I am in a contest with my sisters to loss weight (which I am going to win-Tahmi) so I can excerise whenever.

The Big Barnes Family

After pressure from many friends and family I have final started a Blog. I am excited about my new project and hope that I will find the time to update often.
