My New Deacon

Austin was ordained a Deacon yesterday, just in time for him to attend his first Priesthood meeting last night. He is also the Deacon quorum President (it happens when you are the only Deacon in the ward). He is taking his calling very seriously and is planning on activating all the inactive boys. He also took notes at the Priesthood meeting and told me about what he learned. I was very happy to have the BFF come to the ward to support him (Love ya Jen) and enjoy a small dinner later at the house. I can't wait until next Sunday when he passes Sacrament for the first time. Let's all pray he doesn't drop the tray!

Lyle's Grandmother

Lyle's grandmother passed away on Monday. Although it was not unexpected it is still sad. Lyle's grandfather passed away back in March or April and he was able to go back for the funeral. He will not make it to his grandmothers as he has to work. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Lyle's mother at this time. I'm glad that my children had the opportunity to know their great grandparents. We enjoyed many trips to visit them in Utah.

Austin's 12th Birthday

So my oldest baby turned 12 yesterday. I can't believe that I am old enough to have a 12 year old. If you look closely at the cake you will see that it has 12 candles. I only had 8 traditional candles so Lyle had to find others. He found a #1 candle and 3 other gum drop candles (my sister had them in a white elephant gift exchange a couple of years ago). He was just happy to have a "Indian Jones" cake with candles on top.

Williams New trick

So whenever I get William on my hip this is what he does. I know that I should stop him, but I think it is so cute. Jared sucked his finger and finally stopped around Kindergarten, but he would not take a pacifier. William takes a pacifier so I hope he will grow out of it sooner.

You have got to love the hat also. I got it from the hospital the day he was born and Anna wanted him to ware it.

William

So William is going through this phase that he doesn't want to sleep during the day and wants to be a newborn and wake up all night long. The other day I put him to bed at his normal time when the other kids go to bed and he got up about 30 minutes later. Lyle and I were having "Date time" and watching "50 First Dates" (very funny movie-a must watch) so we brought him downstairs. He lasted until the very end of the movie. He is so cute-playing until the end!

The New Year.

So I am a little old fashion and still make New Years Resolutions and ponder on what happened last year and what will be happening this year. I came to the realization that we have a big year! Austin turns 12 in about 2 weeks and will be receiving the Priesthood, Josie will be going into the double digits (she will be 10) in October, Jared will be 8 in October and will be getting baptised, Anna will be turning 5 and will be staring Kindergarten, and William will be turning 1 year old. 2009 is going to be a big year in the Barnes home. Here's to a great New Year!

Happy New Year!

I want to wish all my friends and family a Happy New Year! This year I have the old stand by, "Lose weight" resolution, but I also want to read a "classic" novel every month (ie. "Grapes of Wrath, "Great Expectations" ect.) As a family we want to read the Book of Mormon every night and have FHE every Monday. I hope that everyone's 2009 is wonderful!

My Dad came into town this weekend so I will be having fun spending time with him this weekend. He is sleeping in this morning and the kids have asked my about 20 times if they can go in a wake him up. He is such a big kid the kids can't wait to spend time with him. I love you Daddy!
